215Fund supporting Kennington Chartist Project

Connection Crew’s latest #215fund winner is Kennington Chartist Project from the Friends of Kennington Park. We donated event crew to support their work raising awareness of the 1848 Chartist Rally on Kennington Common and exploring its relevance today at a Day of Participation on 7th July.

Margarita Ktoris, Marketing Manager, Connection Crew was thrilled to receive their application to the #215Fund:

“As a social enterprise, this project really resonated with us; one of our fantastic local parks was at the centre of the fight for social justice and equality, matters we care deeply about. Our support will allow the volunteers to concentrate on generating ideas for the rest of the project in collaboration with the local community – no need for them to be anxious about taking on an event build and de-rig in a tight turnaround, our crew will help handle that.”

And the Day of Participation was sunny and successful!

Here’s what Richard Galpin, Project Manager for the Kennington Chartist Project said to us when we caught up with him after the tents came down and the park was cleared:

‘We hadn’t realised how badly we needed a professional crew until Connection Crew were there! If they hadn’t had them, we would have struggled. The Connection Crew support meant that our other staff and volunteers were able to concentrate on other tasks during the day – meeting people and talking to people about the aims of the project, and supporting the workshops. So overall the success of the day stemmed from us being set up in good time and not over-stretched from the start. So as a result we were able to engage more people in our community project.

It was also a great pleasure that the crew were extremely hard working, courteous, polite, and really interested and engaged to hear about the event that they were part of. We felt very lucky to have their support.”

Check out some photographs from the day below and keep an eye out for future events from the Kennington Chartist Project here.

Our #215Fund is ideal for people with a great creative team and all the materials in place, but a lack of skilled manpower to get them up and running. It could be an exciting and ethical street party, art installation or pop-up market for the benefit the local community. If you know anyone who might be interested in our #215Fund send them here.
