We’re Working with the Mayor of London to Support Young People

Connection Crew is proud to announce it is a recipient of New Deal for Young People funding from the Mayor of London.

City Hall is on a mission develop a new deal for a generation of young people whose mental and physical wellbeing, safety, education and potential job prospects have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. It will focus on helping the most disadvantaged to reduce inequality and help create a fairer and more equal London.

This aligns directly with our mission to prevent and reduce homelessness through the provision of flexible jobs, training and mentoring, as young people facing social disadvantage are at high-risk of homelessness.

So, we will support young people under 25 in Southwark and surrounding boroughs through a 12-week peer mentoring scheme that supports young new starters through their transition into work with us as event crew. Mentors are experienced crew members who have received bespoke training and volunteer their time. 

The Mayor’s £7.2m investment in New Deal for Young People mentoring programmes is funding three new programmes to expand high quality mentoring for young Londoners most in need of support (£4.8m) and a mentoring programme supporting young people in Pupil Referral Units (£2.4m). Alongside the work of partners on the London Recovery Programme, the initiatives will help to kickstart his commitment to ensuring that young people most in need have access to a personal mentor and quality youth activities by 2024.
