Impact Update November 2021
Welcome to Connection Crew’s quarterly impact update – with COP26 just behind us, this instalment focusses on our environmental impact and our journey to Net Zero 2025.
So, here’s what we have achieved this quarter:
Been awarded membership to Heart of the City: a climate action programme for SMEs
Become a We Are Albert verified ‘Sustainable Supplier’ – the authority on sustainability for film and TV
Offset the unavoidable carbon generated by teams in 2020, utilising We Are Albert’s Creative Offsets Scheme
Launched a carbon levy so we can offset even more, with just a handful of opt-outs
Started building a ‘Thoughtful Procurement’ plan that covers quality, service, social and environmental impact alongside price
Signed up to a 100% renewable energy tariff at our new premises
Carefully selected a new waste removal supplier; though many pledge to divert from landfill, this often means that waste is incinerated instead
Identified and prioritised the data that we need to collect for reporting
Identified the people gaps in our environmental and social impact strategies so we can recruit accordingly
Launched a team survey to understand your position on sustainability
Begun a regular programme of communication with our team, explaining every facet of our commitment and the areas they drive and support
“Quite honestly, progress has felt slow this quarter while we worked through one of the busiest periods in our history – but some progress is better than nothing, and it builds on the achievements we already have under our belts.”
Charlie Dorman, Director, Connection Crew
We’re looking forward to making many more steps toward Net Zero 2025 next year – our commitment is continually evolving, and will cover:
Water: Consumption reduction targets
Waste: Zero waste policy
Resource efficiency and materials: Circular design policy and environmental procurement policy
Emissions to air, land and water: Reduction targets
Biodiversity and ecosystems
Energy and carbon (CO2e): Reduction targets and renewables
We’re updating our network regularly to keep ourselves accountable – these deadlines will make us push the needle and keep driving the initiatives that get us closer. We hope to encourage friends and colleagues up and down our supply chain to take action too, however small.
