HereForCulture: it’s a Good Friday for Connection Crew

The clocks rolled forward an hour this week, heralding the start of Spring; a time of new life and new beginnings.

It’s appropriate then that the same week has brought news of a crucial grant from the Government’s £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund, which will breathe new life into our social enterprise. More than £300 million has been awarded to thousands of cultural organisations across the country in the latest round of support from the Culture Recovery Fund, the Culture Secretary announced today.

This announcement, made on Good Friday, is cause for optimism after the toughest year in Connection Crew’s history.

‘We’ve worked really hard to pivot into new sectors in the wake of the pandemic, bringing the energy and agility of event crewing to construction, TV production, facilities management and specialist porterage,’ says Warren Rogers, Director, ‘but this boost of government support will ensure that Connection Crew is here to deliver for the returning events industry as well as delivering on our mission to provide training and jobs for ex-homeless.’

Sir Nicholas Serota, Chair, Arts Council England, said:

“Investing in a thriving cultural sector at the heart of communities is a vital part of helping the whole country to recover from the pandemic. These grants will help to re-open theatres, concert halls, and museums and will give artists and companies the opportunity to begin making new work.
