215Fund supporting Brixton Design Trail
Connection Crew is proud to be supporting the Brixton Design Trail (BDT) as part of our #215Fund – our initiative to give back to our community by supporting amazing events and installations that benefit Brixton and beyond.
BDT – a London Design Festival Route – produces and supports the delivery of art installations, public realm interventions, creative workshops, events and exhibitions designed and owned by professional and grass roots talent from Brixton’s creative community. Each year BDT sets a theme for participants to respond to. This time it’s #WEBELONG – exploring what it means to live in the heart of Europe’s most diverse city, and celebrating togetherness with the theme.
Our crew – the professionals that help build events – have been helping to construct and set-up some of this year’s highlights including:
Eco Cube: By UpCircle at Lambeth Town Hall. An immersive pavilion where visitors can discover sustainable products from local artists and designers.
From Nope to Hope: By This Ain’t Rock n Roll and artists at the Brixton Rec. An exhibition of graphic design, craft and grassroots resistance featuring works removed from the Design Museum.
Afro Supa Hero: By 198 Gallery and CarverHaggard. Visit the Hub Space to see Afro Supa Hero, as part of the Jon Daniel Retrospective.
Society and SW9: By the Edible Bus Stop and This Ain’t Rock n Roll at Brixton Community Base. Talks, workshops and events all week explore how technology, ecology, culture and protest can build a more positive future.
Tangle Sphere: by AWMA on Tunstall Place. See how far across the world Britain’s best loved hairbrush has travelled from its home in Brixton in a colourful installation.
Hub Space: By the BDT team at Pop Fields, just behind Pop Brixton – with live mural painting, street art, an exhibition by Motherworks – and much more.
Check-out a few photos from the build below and then get yourself to Brixton and see the full showcase of local creative talent until 23rd September 2018!
